Community Education's 3rd Annual Spellabration -

Bowling Green/Warren County Community
Education, US Bank, and the Spell-A-Bration 2008 partners invite children and
youth to participate in our Busy Bee Art Show on Tuesday, January 22nd,
2008. This show is a companion to Spell-a-Bration, our adult Spelling Bee.
The opening showing will take place at a reception for parents,
children, and guests between the hours of 5:30 & 7:30 p.m., at Christ
Episcopal Church, 1215 State St. First, second, and third place awards will be given in the
categories listed below. People’s
choice voting will take place throughout the reception. Winning
entries will be displayed for viewing at Spell-A-Bration, Community
Education’s adult Spelling Bee, on Tuesday, February 26, 2008, Knights of
Columbus Hall. All entries will
become property of Community Education for promotional purposes.

In 1973, a group of dedicated citizens and civic leaders met with the idea of creating an organization that could collaborate with other agencies and organizations to help provide a sense of lifelong learning for our citizens. An interlocal agreement between both local school districts and Warren County Fiscal Court created and sustains the agency. Since that time, Community Education has grown to provide before and after school care for more than 1,200 school age children and youth on school days and for as many as 500 children during all-day programs, which are offered during school breaks. Enrichment classes for adults cover a wide variety of subjects including foreign language, cooking, fine arts (art, dance, music), crafts, computer, fitness and recreation, finance, on-line classes and more. We train volunteers to go into schools to read to children, help tutor them, and other activities. We also help place volunteers in the community in conjunction with the newly formed ALIVE Center. We work very closely with Volunteers in Action to "train the trainers" who work with volunteers in a variety of agencies and organizations. It is our charge to facilitate community collaboration and to provide needed services at low cost to community members. |
